I think you should get a shark although it will probably take more care than the snake or squirrel i think it would be worth it. You will need a large space to keep it and probably need to fill your entire house with water. Remember to look into the practicalities of living under water (all your stuff floating about, electrics not working, not being able to breathe etc.) before hand. A flying squirrel seems like it would be pretty cool and doesn't appear to require much maintainance. Wouldn't it be a challenge keeping it in the back yard tho?

i highly suggest not looking into flying squirrels.
