Is it true that you can have a pet Squirrel in NY as long as its a Western Flying Squirrel?

i am not totally sure but that is pretty cool to have a pet squirrel. u could try going to www.google.com and ask that question and see if you dont get an answer.

Actually you can get an answer in any state by contacting your local office of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), they're in the phone book under government offices. They know which animals need permits to have, which are ok and which can't be owned at all.





Don't be afraid of calling them, they like to answer unusual questions. I've called before on subjects like live badgers (my folks have one that lives wthin 50 feet of their house), deer bones found in the woods (if I could sell them), tagged geese (one with a collar tag on was nesting at the park) and a few other things. I got good answers to all of them.
