Flying squirrel?

Yes, there are such things. They don't really fly, but glide on flaps of skin that stretches out between their legs. They use these flaps like a parachute, or like a hang-glider to jump and glide between trees. It works pretty well too. Flying squirrels have been known to glide over 100 feet from one tree to another.
