Hi there...sugar gliders are legal in KY: http://www.sugarglider.com/gliderpedia/i鈥?/a>

You will need to check with your local humane society to check if flying squirrels are legal in your city/county, etc. http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/squirrels鈥?/a>Sugar gliders or flying squirrels legal in Kentucky?

Neither the sugar glider nor the flying squirrel is specifically banned in Kentucky:

However, as in every state, if an animal is native to that state (as I believe the flying squirrel is to KY), then it would be illegal to capture a wild one and keep it captive. You would need to purchase your pet from a legitimate USDA licensed breeder.
Flying squirrels are native to Kentucky. if you can catch one and keep it alive then it must be legal. Sugar Gliders are not squirrels. they are not native to the United States. They are regulated by USFDA and State statute so look them up.
