How can you tell the age of a flying squirrel?

I found a flying squirrel in our back yard. My cat was trying to get it. We rescued before any harm, doing great, but have no idea on age. Does anyone know how to tell how old one is? Thanks. How can you tell the age of a flying squirrel?
Flying squirrels, in the wild, rarely live past 3 years, if that helps. In a wild population, there are more youngsters than older ones, so most likely it will be under a year.

If you have it in your house, release it- they have a high metabolism, need lots of food, and are nocturnal (more active at night). They do not handle captivity well unless raised from birth in it.

Plus, they are illegal to keep without a permit
